Concept: The Black Sun, or Sol Niger, belongs to alchemical symbolism and is associated with the nigredo: the stage of dissolution in which matter returns to an original, undifferentiated state in preparation for transformation. It is a paradoxical symbol: an obscured Sun whose light has not been extinguished, but concealed.

In the ART OF THE SPIRIT, the Black Sun is reinterpreted as uncreated light. It is not physical light produced by a source, but a symbolic image of the Absolute before manifestation: an undifferentiated reality, pure potential containing every possible form.

Blackness does not represent the absence of light, but its invisibility before it becomes manifest. It is the zero point at which nothing has yet appeared, and everything may arise: the silence from which light, matter and consciousness emerge.

The Black Sun does not illuminate from outside: it is the invisible source preceding every radiation, the origin in which Life holds all its possibilities before becoming form.
