Concept: The phrase Subject to Terrestriality for Life surfaces as an intuitive notation and contains a double meaning. For life evokes a sentence without end, while terrestriality indicates the embodied condition: being subject to gravity, time, matter and limitation.

The work also indirectly addresses the theme of reincarnation. Whether existence unfolds over several lives or only one—this one—the embodied condition remains the field of experience entrusted to us. To be subject to terrestriality means passing through matter in order to evolve in consciousness.

This process entails effort, since manifestation introduces duality: self and other, inner and outer, matter and SPIRIT, pleasure and pain. Every distinction may be experienced as separation; at the same time, the encounter between opposites makes discernment, choice and transformation possible.

In the ART OF THE SPIRIT, incarnation is therefore not a punishment, but an evolutionary passage. Body and matter provide consciousness with the place in which to experience, recognise itself and participate consciously in Life. For life no longer signifies only a sentence, but a commitment to passing fully through the existence we have been given.

Written Painting records this intuition at the very moment it surfaces. Word and sign emerge from a single perceptual act, and the Moleskine becomes the logbook of an inner experience.
