Svadhisthana, whose Sanskrit name is generally translated as “one’s own abode” or “one’s own foundation”, is the second chakra. Symbolically situated in the pelvic region, it is associated with the element Water and represented as a six-petalled lotus; its seed mantra is VAM. Water evokes movement, fluidity and transformation. In contemporary interpretations, Svadhisthana is also associated with sexuality, desire and creative, generative power.
In the ART OF THE SPIRIT, Svadhisthana is the dwelling place of Life’s generative power. The same energy flows through procreation and artistic creation: in both, what is still invisible seeks a form through which to manifest.
