In my research, visual poetry emerges as an amplified form of communication, since ordinary language can sometimes become a limit to understanding and empathy. When words encounter image, sign, space and rhythm, meaning is not only read, but also perceived. Acronyms allow for conceptual condensation and linguistic play, while neologisms remove words from ordinary usage and open them to new possibilities of meaning and relation. The two series are brought together by this shared exploration of language through wordplay, semantic shifts and visual transformation. The Tavole Parolibere Series — homage to Futurism as it once was — draws specifically on Filippo Tommaso Marinetti’s linguistic experimentation with words-in-freedom, in which the disruption of traditional syntax, typographic freedom and unexpected juxtapositions transform the word into visual and sonic matter. The reference is therefore to Futurist experimentation with language and writing rather than to the movement’s entire ideological programme. The homage is addressed to a historical Futurism that imagined a future which, in many respects, has now become our present. The Post-it Art Series uses the ordinary adhesive note as support, compositional module and ready-made. The ephemeral reminder becomes a sign, poetic fragment, image or installation, while the immediacy of the medium becomes part of the linguistic gesture itself. This research also includes my participation, in 2007, in Camera 312 – promemoria per Pierre, a collective project conceived and curated by Ruggero Maggi in homage to Pierre Restany and presented within the context of the 52nd Venice Biennale. To invent words is to create new territories of meaning and more vital spaces in which to meet.
