The original Italian phrase links risorto — risen — orto — garden — and aborto — aborted — transforming what has been interrupted into ground for regeneration. Here, the aborted refers to any possibility that was prevented from maturing: an experience, an identity or a form of life left unfulfilled. What could not blossom is not denied, but received as material for transformation.

In the ART OF THE SPIRIT, allowing the self to blossom within the Self means enabling individuality to mature within a more expansive consciousness. The self is not erased within the Self: there it rediscovers its roots and the possibility of expressing itself fully.

Rebirth is therefore not a return to a previous form, but the fulfilment of what was waiting to come into the light.
