ART OF THE SPIRIT is neither an art movement nor an aesthetic of the sacred, but an evolutionary practice in which the spiritual dimension is sought and lived as a direct experience of consciousness.
The Path and Metacognition
At the foundation of the path leading from a-centr-ism to ART OF THE SPIRIT lies metacognition: the ability to observe one’s own thoughts and, within this research, emotions and bodily responses. In a-centr-ism, such observation makes it possible to recognise the conditioning mechanisms of the ego without eliminating it, repositioning it from an absolute identity to a relative and provisional structure within a wider field of consciousness. A space of presence thus opens in which it becomes possible to choose rather than react automatically.
Alignment and the Superconscious
In ART OF THE SPIRIT, metacognitive awareness supports the alignment of the physical, emotional and mental dimensions, fostering the receptivity of consciousness to the superconscious. Metacognition does not coincide with the superconscious, nor does it produce it: it prepares the field for reception. Inner listening, presence, contemplation and meditative writing therefore become integral parts of the creative process.
The Role of the Artist and the Work
The artist does not place the ego at the centre of creation, but acts as a threshold between the visible and the invisible. The work does not impose a definitive meaning: it offers itself as a perceptual stimulus and as a doorway to be crossed.
To facilitate this crossing, the technique of objective or hyperlucid vision is proposed. “Objective” does not mean a gaze devoid of subjectivity, but a state of attention that suspends, as far as possible, the interpretations, memories and projections through which personal experience anticipates and conditions what is observed. Vision becomes “hyperlucid” because it simultaneously engages the outward gaze, the breath, the body and the image recalled inwardly. The purpose is to allow the work to be received and internalised before it is explained.
Technique of Objective or Hyperlucid Vision
Mental reconstruction serves to suspend interpretation, making the gaze more receptive to the artist’s intention before personal experience overlays it with its own meanings.
Ethics and Artistic Languages
The spiritual quality of the work does not depend on the subject depicted, but on the coherence between intention, inner state and creative process, as well as on the perceptual field the work is capable of activating. Painting, Light Art, Land Art, Digital Art, video, installation, performance and writing may all contribute to the research: each language is selected according to the specific requirements of the work.
Attention thus shifts from the object to the field of presence it generates. The viewer is not a passive recipient, but a presence called to enter into relationship and resonance with the work. Meaning resides neither solely in the work nor solely in the viewer, but also in the encounter that takes shape between them.
Immanence and Matter
The SPIRIT is not opposed to matter, nor is transcendence located in a separate elsewhere: both can become perceptible through the body, conflict, memory, limitation and lived experience. These dimensions are not obstacles to spiritual practice, but the very material through which it may unfold.
Spiritual transformation therefore does not consist in denying the earthly condition or abandoning the world, but in changing the quality of consciousness with which we perceive, move through and inhabit it.
