Hashem
is the unutterable name of God: an immanent God, a creator who becomes creature and created.

Hashem comes from an experience I had during a lucid dream. In that state of wakefulness within sleep, I saw a symbol outside my window, charged with an energetic presence so intense that it left me without words. The only question I could formulate inwardly was whether it might be an Archangel. Immediately afterwards, I found myself in a perfectly geometric, luminous dimension, as though that vision had opened a passage to another order — essential and transcendent.

The following morning, I searched for the sign and recognised it in the Hebrew alphabet. Hence the title Hashem, a name which, in Jewish tradition, alludes to the unpronounceable name of God. The drawing therefore preserves the memory of an inner encounter: not a symbolic invention, but the visual translation of an apparition perceived as a calling.

The work’s geometric structure and the emergence of the sign within the field of light seek to evoke the threshold between the visible and the invisible where the symbol appeared. I have not yet continued with further drawings in the series, as I remain open to another sign, another invitation. The work therefore stands as a first response to a presence received, rather than as a concluded statement.
